Underworld Intrigue: A Tale of Monsters and Mafia in Russia

My dream was like a mob/monster/zombie movie. It takes place in Russia, a family is visiting, not Russian, but they’re all grown, no kids. The father is clearly a monster of some kind and he has business with other Russian criminals. The father is abusive and the mother is tolerant, the older brother is naive but wants to please his father and goes along with criminal stuff. The younger brother is against it, but doesn’t really realize how criminal it is. They end up spending time at this Russian mob house, where the younger brother slowly realizes that the nice family business that they’re handing out at is actually a front and the whole Russian family is mafia too. The weirdest part though was that I WASNT IN THE DREAM. The dream was split between two perspectives the younger brother and a young woman who was part of the Russian family. The older brother starts to realize how messed up the father is, and when the father asks him to go kill someone, he refuses, and the father smashes his head into a wooden beam in the Russian house in front of everyone. The younger brother is so close he is sprayed with blood. The older brother dies. The father designated the younger brother and one guy from the Russian mom family to dispose of the body. The boys are in the bay, letting the current pull the body somewhere and following where it ends up, but the body is pulled into a pipe. And they frantically follow to correct the mistake. They find a barn like area, and there are sleeping creatures there that almost like dinosaurs, as they start to wake up, the two guys run in terror, as they’re running through the streets, people on the street stars to contort and chase them, then more of the beasts start to descend on the city. By the time they return to the restaurant, they city is overtaken. When the boys try to explain what happened, no one believes them, until the mother of the Russian family bites her son (the boy who was with the protagonist) and the son guy realizes the restaurant is already corrupted, those in the restaurant/house/mansion that are still normal try to escape, but only a few do, including the younger brother and the young woman of the Russian mob family who will later be another protagonist. Time jump. The whole city is split into those over taken and prey. The perspective shift to the young woman who is uniquely smart and agile and has la a knack for escaping, a crazy survival instinct. She’s been holed up with a few members of her family in part of the mansion adjacent to the restaurant with its own entrance, the men are protecting her, but little do they realize that she can protect herself. Slowly the men are eliminated by going out for food and not coming back. When it’s down to her and the last man, he stupidly hears a noise and goes to the door to peer through the crack to see. On the other side of the room, the woman realizes their hiding place has been found and just as the door is busted open, she bursts out the window that only opens from the bottom outwards, with a small crack no one can fit through, breaking the window’s mechanism, and hangs from the window on a rope. She’s an excellent climber, so she swings on the rope around the side of the building, Quasimodo style, out of sight. She climbs and hangs there for a while, until the family realizes where she went and try to come for her. She manages to climb up and away from them onto the top of the precariously sloping roof where they can’t reach her, but they set up camp in the highest balconies waiting for a chance to reach her, so she is effectively trapped. It’s summer in this part of Russia but the nights still get cold, so she knows she can’t last too long up there. She manages to climb to a different part of the roof where there is an intricate series of balconies that no longer are accesible from inside the house. There she finds the younger brother of the American mafia family who has been hiding there. He is not a fighter like her, and has only survived because he too is good at climbing and good at Venturi g out for food unseen. He has stockpiled some stuff, food water and one sharp spike like piece of metal. As the corrupted people in the family slowly find ways to access them, it becomes clear that the woman is the fighter, so she holds the weapon perpetually. Her mother manages to get onto their part of the roof through a defunct dumbwaiter shaft, and the woman tricks her into believing that she too has been corrupted. The corrupted people all have rotting small holes on their body in places that they seem to be proud of as almost tattoos proving their alliance to the creatures, and the woman realizes they have been doing it to themselves, but because of whatever infected them, they won’t heal. She tried to distract her mother by carving more patterns into her back “for her” but the young man is so horrified that she can do this that he vomits in the corner, the woman is scared that the mother will notice and realize that the man isn’t yet corrupted, but soon many more find their way up and a “party” of some sorts breaks out, hedonistic and gross, with everyone carving patterns in each other. The woman realizes that the others have brought with them one of the creatures’ large bones, still covered in cartilage and sinew, that seems to be special to the corrupted ones, and may have something to do with what controls them. She and the young man manage to sneak out of the gathering, through the dumbwaiter shaft and around a corner into the abandoned part of the mansion. Despite the fact that they can still hear the others and know their not safe yet, they finally are about to hook up when they realize that her corrupted sister has followed them to get the bone back. The woman manages to knock the woman down the stairwell and before she can come back, she turns to the man and tells him to take the bone back to the roof and find a different way to escape with it, so she can hold her sister off. He’s reluctant to leave her, but as he relents and starts to retreat, he sees through the narrow dumb waiter shaft that in the absence of the bone, the people on the roof have started turning into the creatures and they’re all trying to squeeze into the shaft to come after them. Suddenly the creatures start exploding and the entire roof collapses. The man and woman and the sister are buried in the rubble, but manage to survive, and the sister is returned to normal. There’s more details that I’m forgetting, like the man’s perspective as he searches the corrupted city for food and survivors and the interactions between the man and the woman and their corrupted family’s on the roof as they pretend to be part of them, but basically this was the dream. It was a monster/zombie/mafia movie with ALL the parts. And I wasn’t even in it. That’s so crazy to me. It was like I was an observer of a book or a movie. I wasn’t scared because none of it was happening to me. Occasionally I’d have a thought like, “oh wow, I didn’t see the magic aspect coming, I didn’t realize this was that kind of story”.
